Look, you can like what you like, but thinking you are somehow different or better, for liking something is just a bit silly to me. You all really don't need to diminish other styles of games to place what you like higher lol. Some of them branched out and adopted a middle ground, where they are not completely "open world" but allow you to feel like it is. Hell, Hi-Fi rush employs a lot of what is common in those games (FYI I don't mind it, I love playing through and then seeing characters come alive in cutscenes). Forspoken seems to be trying to prey on the idea they are a superior quality with graphics so they should be worth more. How quickly people forget that linear games that place emphasis on character and story existed long before the "movie-like" games some of you like to hate on existed. Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. Cartoony games like Hi-Fi Rush should implement such writing, not realistic RPGs. Wacky dialogue like this is meant for Fun Games that don’t take themselves seriously. To put it another way, I wouldn't mind quips in a comedy, but I would mind them in a gritty period-piece about the Great Depression, or even a Drama. Joss Whedon’s writing style just doesn’t fit into tonally serious titles like the RPG. Forspoken is a high-fantasy game, with a grounded art-style, with a greater emphasis on its (relatively serious) story. Click to expand.I see that as an unfair characterization of games that you are calling "movie-like" games. The quippy dialogue seen in Marvel movies doesn’t work in video games like Forspoken.
